Building a Business from the Ground Up…

For me, horses have been a part of my life for as long as I remember.

I was fortunate enough to have had my first pony when I was just 6 months old. From there, I joined the Pony Club at age 5, where I fully immersed myself and took part in a number of rallies, camps, shows and events. I started riding racehorses at the age of 11 where I then got my amateur jockey licence aged 16. A few years later aged 18, I then turned professional.

At 18, I purchased my first horse myself. George was a 3yo KWPN unbroken gelding. At the time, I had no idea what I was doing but I broke him in, taught him to jump, took him to some local shows before aiming him for 4yo classes that summer. George won every 4yo championship he entered and it was then I realised that young horse production was what I wanted to do.

At 20 years old, I decided to set up by myself and with money I had earned from selling George I bought 3 more horses of my own and started renting a yard near Charlwood. It was from here that my equestrian business really started to establish itself within the equine world.

I put an advert up on Facebook, and within the first week we were full. Within the first year we had already broken in horses for 5* riders such as many of the Whittaker family, the Williams family and many other big names in showjumping, racing, eventing and showing.

Now aged 26 I have a successful team of staff, farriers, vets, physios, owners other equine professionals that help run our yard of 20 horses here in Hartfield, East Sussex; regularly competing up to 4* World Ranking Classes.
